AFC Portchester will be celebrating the life of their former chairman and life president Steve Woods by holding a memorial day in his honour this summer.
The special event is being planned for Saturday, August 14, at the Crest Finance Stadium from 2pm.
Woods sadly passed away in January this year and the news prompted a huge response from the Portchester community he had done so much to help during his lifetime.
Social media was filled with messages from family and friends and people he had helped or had worked alongside him, and the main stand at the Crest Finance Stadium was filled with floral tributes to him.
The family fun day will celebrate Steve’s life and allow the community to come together to remember him - Covid-19 restrictions prevented anything like this happening at the time of his death earlier this year.
There will be plenty of entertainment for adults and children on the day and live music is already being lined up for the event.
Steve’s family are still raising money for the Hepatology and Liver Ward at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. They have already smashed through their original target of £500 and the current fundraising amount stands at £3,130.
